KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - Several Kalamazoo ice sport programs are optimistic after the announced new ownership of Wings West this week. However, they are still moving forward on a plan to address the limited ice space around the city.
For years, Wings West has been home to the Greater Kalamazoo Skating Association, Kalamazoo Optimist Hockey Association and a handful of other users training and equipping young athletes. The rink closed last month.
"My daughter had been there since she was three years old and it was everything that was her entire life basically," said Kelly Felton, president of the Greater Kalamazoo Skating Association.
