LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Police Department is in the process of moving into new headquarters, which is expected to take several years.

The department will be on the fourth floor of 601 W. Chestnut St.

"You’ll have all of your major crimes, robbery, homicide and all of those units will be in this building, as well as many others,” said Paul Humphrey, LMPD chief of police, during a recent news briefing.

The move-in will take time. Humphrey estimated as many as 600 officers and staff could eventually clock in at the new location and said having so many officers and staff in one central location is already having a positive impact on the city’s downtown.
