FREMONT, Neb. (WOWT) — Fremont residents will soon see a new building rising downtown.
The city recently broke ground on a new police headquarters, a project years in the making aimed at enhancing public safety and officer recruitment.
First responders and city leaders officially marked the start of construction for the Fremont Police Department’s new home at 8th and Main Streets during a ceremony Friday morning that drew nearly 100 community members.
Police Chief Jeff Elliott highlighted the significance of the two-story building, which will span more than half a block downtown.
This marks the first time in over 30 years that the department will occupy a space specifically designed for its needs, moving from the former city municipal building.
