KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Thompson Cancer Survival Center is hosting a 5K race against cancer on Nov. 2, honoring WBIR anchor emeritus Bill Williams at the same time.

"Many of you had the pleasure of meeting the phenomenal Bill Williams at several of our annual race day tributes to cancer survivors - he was such a gift to our community," the center said.

The center announced that it would donate a portion of the proceeds to establish the "Bill Williams Excellence Endowment," which would benefit patients cared for by the cancer center.

"We are so proud to honor Bill's legacy of support for this event and his dedication to the fight against cancer," the center said.
