In 2018, Tyler Berg was an individual state champion, but also part of what was essentially a state-level all-star team in boys’ cross country just within the walls of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School.

His classmates included Aidan Gillooley, Nick Hunziker and Evan Brennan, and all four seniors finished in the top 12 overall at the state meet, dominating the team competition so thoroughly that the Spartans’ 22 points was a whopping 74 fewer than runner-up Pearl River scored.
