PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- He's been honing his saxophone skills for nearly 15 years. Now, Ikechi Onyenaka has been tapped to perform in a special parade.

Onyenaka is a first-generation American. His parents, who work in health care and real estate, moved to the United States from Nigeria.

He traces his musical roots back to the Upper Darby school district and also performed while studying at Penn State.

As of late, he has been working on growing his presence in the Philadelphia music scene.

Last year, he performed in the 2024 Wawa Welcome to America 4th of July parade. And this year, he will be stepping on a float in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps 250 Parade.

The parade, part of the Homecoming 250 celebration across Philadelphia, will take place on Monday, October 13.
