Nevada State Police have released new information about the Oct. 4 crash in Pleasant Valley that killed one cyclist and injured another.

According to a preliminary report, a 1995 Subaru Legacy was in the northbound lane near Pagni Lane when it failed to maintain its lane, crossed all southbound lanes and entered the designated bike lane, striking two cyclists, police said. The driver then steered back to the right, causing the vehicle to rotate before coming to rest in the northbound lanes.

The cyclists were identified by colleagues as Susan and Rew Goodenow. Susan Goodenow, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene, and her husband was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
