A man injured in an apparent explosion at a downtown Houston high-rise hotel under construction last week filed a $1 million lawsuit Friday against the property owner and a general contractor.

The lawsuit filed in the 269th District Court of Harris County asserts that the property owner, Neway Hospitality, L.P. and general contractor, E.E. Reed Construction, failed to take precautions to prevent the explosion in the top floor of the building at Texas Avenue and Austin Street.
