ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (WCBD) — This morning’s king tide reached one of its highest levels of the year along Isle of Palms, sending waves up to the dunes and underneath several oceanfront homes.

Strong onshore winds added to the impact, driving water across beach access paths and leaving behind debris scattered across the sand. By early afternoon, the water had receded, but the signs of erosion were visible in exposed roots, damaged stairways, and shifted dunes.

Homeowners say they have seen a clear difference in how far the water travels during seasonal king tides compared to years past.
