CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) -- Police are asking the public for information after a 14-year-old was hit while riding a bike on James Island this week.

The incident happened shortly before midnight on October 8 on Dills Bluff Road near Darwin Street, according to the Charleston Police Department.

Authorities said the bicyclist was struck by two vehicles, both of which fled traveling south. Details regarding the child's condition were not immediately provided.

Investigators believe one of the vehicles may be a dark gray 1998-1999 Nissan Altima or a dark gray 2006-2009 Infiniti that may also be missing its passenger-side mirror.
