Ursuline Academy senior Emmie Kinder is attempting to do something that few, if any, high school girls tennis players have accomplished in Missouri by winning medals in all three classes of competition.

Kinder finished second and third respectively in Class 1 singles during her freshman and sophomore seasons.

The Bears moved up to Class 2 last year and Kinder finished second in singles.

Ursuline moved up once again this year to Class 3, the largest in the state. Kinder took the first step toward a medal by qualifying for the state tournament with a second-place finish in the Class 3 District 1 Tournament on Friday at Eureka. The top two finishers in singles and doubles qualify directly to the state tournament, scheduled for Oct. 23-25 in Springfield.
