RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is beginning to implement the newest updates to the CDC immunization schedule .

Multiple updates were recently made to the COVID-19 and the combined measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (MMRV) vaccine recommendations.

The new guidelines advise “individual-based decision making” when deciding to take the COVID-19 vaccine for ages 6 months and older.

The CDC immunization schedule says people ages 6 months and up may receive a COVID-19 vaccine at their healthcare provider, and people ages 3 years and older can get a vaccine at a pharmacy in Virginia without a prescription.
