CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - Tidal flooding impacted many parts of Downtown Charleston as a result of an over eight-foot high tide.

According to Charleston City officials, they saw 36 road closures across the peninsula. The city's police, fire, public works, and stormwater departments worked together before and during high tide. It arrived at 11:02 a.m. and crested around 11:30 a.m.

"We had a tidal event yesterday, today was slightly higher. We crested over eight feet today, it was about 8.4 or so by the time we crested," Mike Julazadeh, deputy chief of Charleston Fire Department, said.
