UNITED NATIONS — The United Nations will begin sending increased humanitarian aid into Gaza on Sunday as a ceasefire takes effect, UN officials told the Associated Press.
Israel has approved the expanded deliveries, allowing the UN and partner agencies to move more food, medicine, and supplies into the region.
According to the UN humanitarian chief, aid groups in recent months have only been able to deliver a fraction of what is needed to support civilians affected by the conflict.
Officials say they hope the ceasefire will create safer conditions for relief workers and allow for sustained assistance to those most in need.
