CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - An employee with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools was charged with attempted murder on Friday, according to Charlotte police.
Charlotte police said on Friday, Oct. 10, that they were investigating an incident involving Charlotte-Mecklenburg School employee 43-year-old Cheryl Gates.
Police said they located and arrested Gates, who was then transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Gates was charged with attempted murder, contaminating food or drink to render one mentally incapacitated or physically helpless, stalking, and damage to property.
At the time of this writing, Charlotte police did not say why Gates was charged.
Officials said that the incident occurred off of school property and did not involve any student, teacher or facul
