CARMEL, Ind. — City leaders in Carmel are seeing an uptick in accidents involving kids and electric bikes .
Now, they're working to find ways to keep kids and drivers safe.
"Definitely a big increase and obviously a big increase in those accidents being on e-bikes," Tim Griffin with the Carmel Fire Department said.
Griffin is now warning parents to talk with their children about how to be safe if they're on one.
"Make sure that that helmet's on," Griffin said. "You need to make sure that you talk about road safety with the kids and being sure that they're watching the roads, along the Monon, make sure you're stopping at stoplights and stop signs."
