Residents have spoken of their dismay after an established hedgerow was hacked down by a housing developer at the rear of their homes. Some people living on Whitethorn Close in Stokesley behind the Tilia development of homes at The Bluebells at Tanton Fields, say they were given no prior notice of the planned removal of the hedge.
It ran along the rear of their properties and the uprooting has displaced "an abundance of wildlife", they say, while resulting in a loss of privacy for their homes. Teesside Live has contacted Tilia Homes and North Yorkshire County Council which is investigating.
In correspondence seen by Teesside Live, Tilia states the bush had to be removed as part of maintenance to a culvert beside it "to ensure proper water flow and to prevent potential flooding." They a
