SEA BRIGHT, N.J. (PIX11) -- With a state of emergency having been declared for New Jersey starting Saturday night, towns up and down the Jersey Shore on Friday prepared for what could be a devastating weekend storm.
Next to the Sea Bright boardwalk, work crews filled sandbags on Friday afternoon.
The location, certainly, had no lack of sand -- it was on the beach, the same beach that's at risk of flooding over the holiday weekend. Filling up the more than 500 bags that will also be available for pickup on Saturday were members of the Office of Emergency Management for Monmouth County.
The storm approaching The Shore is a potentially serious one, according to the head of Monmouth County emergency management, Sheriff Shaun Golden.
