OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - After less than two seasons at the helm, Blue Valley North head football coach Gene Wier has resigned.

The news first reported by 810 Varsity was confirmed to KCTV by a Blue Valley School District spokesperson Friday afternoon.

Under Wier, the Mustangs went 5-10 since he took over in 2024.

Blue Valley’s district spokesperson said Blake Mudd will be BVN’s interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Blue Valley North hosts St. James Academy Friday night. The Mustangs are 2-3 this season and lost to Blue Valley 35-7 last week.
