WASHINGTON, D.C. – The White House has announced a new initiative aimed at reducing the cost of some prescription drugs. President Donald Trump is set to announce an agreement with AstraZeneca, marking a significant step in his administration's efforts to address drug pricing.

This development follows a similar deal made with Pfizer, where prices on many of its drugs were cut. As part of the agreement with AstraZeneca, the drugmaker will receive a three-year exemption from pharmaceutical sector tariffs.

AstraZeneca has committed to selling drugs directly to Medicaid patients at the lowest prices offered in other developed countries. This will be facilitated through a soon-to-be-launched government website, trump-rx.gov .
