IRON COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Despite a night of light rainfall on Thursday, Iron County officials are doing everything they can to prepare for flash flooding this weekend, preparing for as much as two inches of rain in some areas.

Iron County Emergency Manager George Colson told ABC4 that the area has already seen what heavy rainfall can do in the past.

"21 really hammered both Cedar City and Enoch and some of the other towns around Cedar City. Very severe, a lot of damage, a lot of homes damage," Colson said.

Colson said that's why crews are pre-positioning equipment in flood-prone areas like Coal Creek, Kanarraville, and throughout northwest Iron County, ready to respond if storms intensify.
