Igot nailed by a speed camera a few days ago, so I write today from a special place — no, not prison — but as a convict, beyond pardon.
The fine was $95, plus surchage and costs for a total of $120, for driving 59 km/h in a 40-zone on Meadowlands Drive. I am, of course, a bad, bad person and the city does not fail to remind you of your rotten guilt by sending a smudgy photograph of the felonious, speeding car .
(The photo reminded me of a public police appeal to find hoodlums wanted for armed robbery. Not just guilty, you reckless deviant, but CAUGHT IN THE ACT! The camera never lies!)
I half-agree with Premier Doug Ford in his desire to get rid of speed cameras, for this main reason: I don’t think they alter overall driver behaviour.
The $120 fine did not change my driving habit
