WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Central Georgia is feeling the strain on day 10 of the federal government shutdown, with more federal workers caught in uncertainty and local businesses bracing to support those affected.
This week marked the brutal reality for many federal employees as they received paychecks missing several days of work .
Barbara Green, wife of a furloughed federal worker and owner of Golden Moments Events and Golden Blessings , shared how her family is coping.
“We saw a difference on our paycheck, which was a $1,500 shortage,” Green said.
With her husband out of work, Green relies on her businesses to keep the family afloat. She said the event planning side of her business has decreased, but the retail side is thriving.
“The events part has kind of been at a minimal here,”
