MADISON, Wis. -- This year's Fill the Hill campaign set a donations record, the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association announced Friday.
A total $737,849 was raised from 4,359 individual gifts. Each gift was represented on Bascom Hill by a plastic pink flamingo.
"The sea of flamingos on Bascom Hill brought so many smiles to campus," EFAA Director of Annual Giving Betsy Popelka Massnick said. "The dollars raised are advancing so many valuable causes that are improving lives both here in Madison and around the world."
Since the fundraiser's inception, Fill the Hill has garnered over 25,000 gifts totaling about $4.5 million. The money is used to fund UW-Madison's greatest financial needs.
