WISHEK, N.D. (KFYR) - Go big or go home: that’s the idea behind this year’s Sauerkraut Day.

The community of Wishek held the first Sauerkraut Day in 1925.

Now, 100 years later, they’ve expanded the celebration to last three days.

It takes a lot of volunteers to pull off such a big event.

Every year, on Sauerkraut Day, Keith Klein and his buddy Dale Meidinger team up to deliver sauerkraut.

“Good help is hard to find, that’s why we’re still here!” laughed Klein.

“It’s a tradition,” added Meidinger.

“People thought we’d be a good team,” explained Klein.

They’ll make a dozen trips back and forth, delivering sauerkraut to the lines of people waiting for a plate.

“We look so forward to Sauerkraut Day,” said Meidinger.
