FARGO — Efforts by the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to recoup funds from a failed ballpark lighting agreement may have hit a snag because one of the companies listed as a defendant has since filed for bankruptcy.

The baseball organization filed a lawsuit in August against Midstream Lighting Holding Inc. (Midstream Holding); Midstream Lighting Inc. (Midstream US), Athletic Lighting Solutions Inc. (ALS) and some individuals associated with those firms.

On Sept. 20, however, Midstream Lighting Inc. filed a voluntary petition for Chapter 7 relief in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Ohio. According to court documents filed Thursday, Oct. 9, the bankruptcy petition operates as an automatic stay “of proceedings against the debtor and actions to obtain or control property of the estate.”
