Seconds before the starting gun, a debate raged amongst the John Glenn cross country runners.

The Bobcats decided to go make history and then go eat.
“We definitely have a bunch of goofballs behind the starting line,” Glenn pacesetter Henry Schanbeck said. “Most of the other teams are locked in. But we try to keep the mood light before going through 20 minutes of pure pain.”
While a bit unorthodox, the Bobcats clearly had their minds in the right place. Glenn stormed to victory in the Bay County Cross Country Championship, winning the boys title for the first time since 2005 and halting Bay City Western’s string of six in a row.
“All the boys put all their effort into it,” Schanbeck said. “We really wanted this one. We wanted to make history today.”
