Dozens of Lowcountry beaches and communities are feeling the effects of a powerful coastal system. Areas like Pawleys Island are seeing flooding firsthand, with many roads completely washed out due to heavy rain and king tides.

Pawleys Island experienced extremely high tides and rough surf early Friday morning, and officials are urging residents to stay weather-aware through the weekend.
