JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Florida Department of Education commissioner filed a complaint Wednesday against an art teacher at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, accused of violating professional conduct standards following a series of controversial social media posts.

Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas filed the formal complaint this week against Hope McMath, outlining several allegations he said may violate state statutes and educator ethics rules.

According to the complaint, McMath was reassigned from her classroom duties after a Facebook post in which she referred to Jacksonville City Councilman Rory Diamond as the “Grand Wizard,” accusing him of using “racist dog whistles.”

The complaint also cites a 2021 event at the Yellow House Art gallery, alleging she exposed students to her pers
