County Executive Calvin Ball highlighted several projects and initiatives that continue to advance across Elkridge and Howard County during Tuesday’s Elkridge Forward meeting at the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department.

Plans are underway for the new Elkridge Community Garden on Old Montgomery Road, featuring 100 community plots, including 25 ADA-accessible raised beds. The groundbreaking is scheduled for this winter, which is expected to open in the spring of 2026.

“We are creating a variety of spaces to ensure all can engage in healthy, active lifestyles,” Department of Recreation and Parks Director Nick Mooneyhan said. “The county wants to empower residents to grow nutritious food, reduce their carbon footprint, and strengthen community bonds.”
