LEE COUNTY, S.C. — It’s been ten years since Lee County faced the devastating 1,000-year flood that swept through homes, businesses, and local infrastructure. Among those affected was the Ashwood Bar and Grill in Bishopville, owned by the McKnight family.

The 2015 flood was so severe that Trish McKnight Bick’s father, who had quit smoking, picked up the habit again in frustration.

"He had quit smoking. And when that happened, that day he started back smoking. He was very upset because he loves this place,” Trish recalled.

The restaurant received 16 to 18 inches of rain, flooding the building and causing roughly $20,000 in damages.
