While many people have never heard of them, pawpaws are the largest edible tree fruit native to the U.S. They aren’t often found in a grocery store because they don’t ship well, but there’s increasing interest in the fruit from local food producers and hobbyist growers.

But what does a pawpaw taste like? Well, it tastes like pawpaw, but we will try to describe it.
