FREMONT, Neb. —
The Fremont Police Department will soon have a new home.
The city broke ground on the future department on Friday morning.
The chief said the station is in an old post office right now, which was handed to them after city hall moved.
He added, currently the department doesn't have a locker room or holding cells.
The new station near Eighth and Main streets will have that and much more.
"We've got specific areas for our SWAT team, brand new workout room, things like that that are very much appreciated," Chief Jeff Elliott said. "I'm excited this is actually happening.
