BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo City Hall leaders have for some time talked about replacing the Broadway Barns, which is home to the city's Department of Public Works.
Now there's a push to buy vacant land for a new DPW complex even as some City Council members worry about the overall cost of an overall $92 million campus.
This former railroad owned property, which would require brownfield remediation, at 1000 Bailey and 250 Baitz avenues is the planned new home for the DPW Campus. It would replace the existing Broadway Barns building dating back many decades.
Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon told reporters: "This is a long time coming, and I'm very familiar with the Broadway Barns — the Broadway garage and its in-efficiencies and its physical condition — and the need for us to improve our operations
