Local state rep calls for Duval school board member to resign over controversial social media comment

A state representative is demanding the resignation of a Duval County School Board member after a controversial comment on a social media post that targeted people with liberal politics, who were accused of spreading hate.

The post, shared by a page called “LibsofDuval,” featured a Duval County parent speaking during public comment at this week’s school board meeting. The page also called out other Jacksonville leaders with liberal views.

News4JAX was sent a screenshot showing April Carney, Vice Chair of the Duval County School Board, commenting under the post. Carney tagged a conservative page called “LibsofTikTok.”

The comment has since been deleted.
