TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office held a walkout ceremony on Friday to honor the retirement of Chief Deputy Derek Pyle, who has served in law enforcement for 31 years.
Colleagues, friends, family, and the community gathered to honor his service. He spoke at the ceremony about the most memorable moments at the department.
"The time's that they help people; the victim when we went to the house over and over again, and we hooked them up with the right resources; we arrange for DSS to get them new housing; we are out in the woods for hours looking for that lost child, and we found them; we've got a motor vehicle accident, and our guys spend an hour trying to save somebody's life.
