The high school football playoff race will gain some clarity tonight in the Class 5A.

Liberty, ranked No. 2 in the NIAA standings, faces No. 4 Desert Oasis in one of the games of the night. Undefeated Las Vegas has a huge test against Desert Pines, and Arbor View tangles with Green Valley.

The Class 4A also has a handful of games that will impact the standings. No. 3 Silverado plays No. 5 Mater East with the winner likely solidifying a postseason spot.

That's the beauty of the new playoff seeding format.

The points system, which takes results, strength of schedule and MaxPreps state rankings, is published on Monday to give programs a look at what they need to do to reach the postseason.
