SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A young scout gave back to her community on Friday.

Elizabeth Schmidt of Troop 711 in Harrisburg has been a scout for two and a half years. She packed meals for Kids Against Hunger and gave them away for her Eagle Scout project.

She packed 24 boxes of meals, which is equivalent to about 1,300 meals.

“It definitely makes me feel good that I am making a tiny bit of difference in the community, and I am taking a step towards taking care of those with food insecurity,” Schmidt said.

Elizabeth has a few more steps before receiving her Eagle Scout, including doing a Board of Review.
