AUSTIN, Texas — A new artificial intelligence system is helping schools and churches in Austin take a proactive approach to safety. The technology, Eagle Eye Gun Detection, is designed to work with existing security cameras to identify potential threats before they escalate.

Rather than simply recording events, the system continuously monitors live footage for signs of a firearm. If a gun is suspected, the footage is reviewed by a second AI for confirmation. Once verified, trained personnel are alerted to initiate the organization’s emergency response plan, which may include notifying law enforcement and sending alerts via text or phone.
