MADISON (WKOW) -- Bad Bunny's newest album came together with help from a UW–Madison professor.
Our Milwaukee affiliate spoke with Jorell Meléndez-Badillo, who teaches history and wrote the book Puerto Rico: A National History.
Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, reached out on Instagram.
Meléndez-Badillo was asked to write 17 historical narratives about Puerto Rico to accompany each song on the album. The narratives span from pre-Columbian times to the present day.
With Bad Bunny slated to perform at the Super Bowl, Puerto Rico has been getting more attention.
"I hope this conversation that's happening around the Super Bowl also gets people asking themselves what Puerto Rico is, and how we think about Puerto Rico," Meléndez-Badillo said.
