FARGO — This weekend, the Great Maze at West Acres is aiming for a Guinness World Records certification as the largest wooden maze in the world.

Guinness officials will arrive at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, to verify the maze, which is about three and a half times larger than the current record holder in Denmark, which spans nearly 14,000 square feet.

The owner, Kathy Johnson, said the maze isn’t just an opportunity for her to set a record — visitors who find all 10 scavenger hunt items in record time could also have their names entered in the Guinness World Records.

“We're going to challenge our current record of 29 minutes and 46 seconds to make it through our maze, and that person also gets a prize and an autographed World Record book signed by Guinness World Records,” Johnson said.
