FLORENCE — Two years removed from Florence-Carlton's third-consecutive state title, the Falcons found themselves with an 0-3 record to start the 2025 campaign.
And yet, despite the uncharacteristic adversity for a program seemingly immune to it, the on-field struggles were reduced to white noise compared to tragedy that had struck their community.
On Sept. 12, 12-year old Florence student Max Petersen was killed in an accident during the school's homecoming parade. The homecoming game against Fairfield was cancelled as the Bitterroot community grieved the loss.
"The wins and losses, all of that is little stuff compared to what that family had to go through," Falcons head coach Adam Goodnight told 406 MT Sports.
Friday night's matchup with Eureka marked the first home game the Falcons h
