Owen Gardner had a 17th birthday to remember.

The junior running back put on a clinic in a battle of the top two teams in Class 4A’s Big Six Conference, totaling 222 yards on 15 carries. He scored one rushing touchdown, a 48-yard sprint into the end zone.

Not only were his statistics at the top of the rushing category, but now Trinity itself sits at the top of the Big Six Conference after a 42-18 victory against Chartiers Valley. Both teams entered the contest with 2-0 conference records. The Hillers, who celebrated their homecoming on Friday night, walked away with the victory.

“I just wanted to have a good birthday, and my present was winning,” Gardner said. “That's all I wanted today and that's what we got. This is probably the best birthday I’ve had so far.”
