Bombay High Court dismisses Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s defamation suit against his brother and ex-wife for Rs 100 crore after actor fails to appear in court.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Rs 100-crore defamation suit against his brother Shamasuddin Siddiqui and ex-wife Anjana Pandey has been dismissed by the Bombay High Court. The actor had accused them of misappropriating Rs 21 crore from his bank accounts and defaming him in the media. A single-judge bench of Justice Jitendra Jain dismissed the case as Nawazuddin and his lawyer were absent from the proceedings. A detailed copy of the court order is yet to be made public.
What triggered the case?
The dispute traces back to 2008 when Nawazuddin had appointed Shamasuddin as his manager. Shamasuddin was entrusted with managing the actor’s bank account
