MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio — Mayfield bounced back from a lopsided loss with a 28-21 victory over Chardon Friday night in a game that featured multiple lead changes and clutch plays on both sides.
The Wildcats (5-3) entered Friday night’s contest seeking redemption after falling 49-14 to Riverside the previous week. Chardon (4-4) had also suffered a recent conference loss to the Beavers, setting up a matchup between two teams looking to get back on track.
Mayfield junior running back Ben Koret tied the game at 21 with 5:59 to go in the third quarter, setting up a dramatic finish. Senior wide receiver Danny D’Agostino provided the game-winner for Mayfield, scoring with 2:11 remaining to give the Wildcats a 28-21 victory.
