Surprised and unsure of what the future would hold, she chose to keep pushing forward – determined to graduate and pass the bar exam

As if law school wasn’t challenging enough, one woman was "terrified” after learning she was pregnant while finishing up her first year.

“It was a complete surprise and never the plan I had envisioned,” Kylie Menish tells PEOPLE exclusively. “At that point, I had no clear idea of what my future education or career path would look like."

Unmarried and halfway into pursuing a legal degree, she was worried that pregnancy would delay her path or make it far more difficult.
