LOWELL, MI — A more than century-old family orchard in West Michigan is offering farm-to-table flavors to elevate an otherwise traditional fall experience.
The Orchards at Red Barn, 3550 Alden Nash Ave. NE in Lowell, is a fifth-generation operation that has successfully adapted to changing agricultural markets by embracing the farm-to-table movement and visitor experiences.
The West Michigan farm market started as an ice cream parlor but has quickly expanded.
The transformation was accelerated in 2019 when the family acquired Painted Turtle Hard Cider from longtime family friends who wanted to retire, said orchard manager Noah Roth. The cider brand went hand and hand with the family’s vision for the market.
“We’ve since grown the hard cider brand like 10 times what it was,” Roth said,
