After talks with Indian officials on October 10, a press conference by Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in New Delhi sparked a controversy after women journalists were reportedly barred from attending it.

The incident has drawn widespread criticism from journalists, opposition parties, and others for the exclusion of female reporters.

The acting Taliban foreign minister arrived in New Delhi on Thursday on a week-long visit to the country. His travel from October 9 to 16 represents the first high-level delegation from Kabul visiting New Delhi since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in August 2021.
