Every month from birth until age 5, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library sends children across the Region books like "My Papi Has a Motorcycle," "Dog's Colorful Day" or "The Pudgy Where Is Your Nose? Book."

Libraries in Lake County first started offering the program intended to promote early literacy in 2014. It has since expanded to cover all of Lake County, extending to the last remaining library districts with the help of a Dean and Barbara White Foundation grant. A total of 4,884 children in Lake County are now enrolled in the program.

Indiana First Lady Maureen Braun visited the Gary Public Library and Cultural Center to read a story to children Thursday as the library districts celebrated reaching full coverage in Lake County.
