SEATTLE ― Gleyber Torres wants you to know, he’s not making excuses. He was healthy enough to play, so he played.
But Torres acknowledged following the Tigers’ season-ending loss in Game 5 of the American League Division Series on Friday night that he’s been playing through pain for the past several weeks.

“For about a month,” Torres said of how long he’s been playing with the injury. “But, I mean, I’m the player. I’m gonna do everything for the team. No excuses. So I’m gonna say thank you for the trainers, the medical staff. We worked really hard to keep me playing every day.
“It was not good from the second half. It was a lot of pain. But we do a really good job keeping me playing … it’s not about the numbers, it’s just about playing every day.”
